Dramatic Clash
Samuel H. Boardman State Park, Brookings, Oregon, United States
This 12 mile corridor of a park lines the rugged coast of Southern Oregon. It boasts many natural points of interest including several surprisingly sandy beaches, towering forests, massive sea stacks, and, of course, these amazing natural bridges. This park was named in honor of Samuel H. Boardman, the first Oregon Parks superintendent. He felt this shining coastline should be shared freely with the public and with future generations. All I can say is thank you.
I've seen many different coastlines in many different places; white sand, black sand, red sand, and everything in-between. Rocky beaches and glass beaches, deadly cliffs and gentle slopes, fresh water and salt. Frozen waves and sand so hot it'll burn your feet. But this tiny stretch of coastline has secured the number one spot in my heart by a mile (or 12).
