Pinard Falls, Lane County, Oregon, United States
Pinard Falls occur where the East Fork of Layng Creek is squeezed through a notch in the bedrock and shot 105 feet into a deep gorge. Erosive action of the water has carved a narrow alcove that the waterfall twists into as it falls, allowing it to remain shaded for much of the day. During the peak of spring when the water level is at its highest, Pinard has a truly deafening flow.
This particular waterfall is deep in the Umpqua Wilderness and takes some careful driving and a decent knowledge of the area (or a really good map!) to find. The nice thing about its out-of-the-way location is that it receives far fewer visitors than similar waterfalls in the state. I spent a good two hours at this sight and didn't see a soul.
